Whimsical bath salt recipes

I was looking for easy bath salt recipes as I love bath salts and I figured, I could make them myself and the way I like them, too instead of buying them.

How to make bath salts - a two part, step-by-step video by our expert, Nili Nathan on how to make bath salts. Very easy! Here are a couple of whimsical and easy to make bath salt recipes.

Rainbow Fruity Bath Salts

Ingredients

3 quarts of Epsom salts or course sea salts
3 envelopes unflavored unsweetened Kool-Aid powder (one each of three different colors)
3-4 drops of scented Essential Oils which compliment the flavors of Kool-Aid you have chosen (Orange oil with orange Kool-Aid, Lavender Oil with Grape Kool-Aid, Peppermint Oil with strawberry Kool-Aid, etc)

Preparation

Mix one envelope of Kool-aid to 1 quart salts in three separate bowls.
Add 3-4 drops of essential oils to each of the three bowls, in a scent which coordinates with the color.
Alternate colored layers in a glass or plastic container.
To use, add 1/2 to 1 cup salts per bath.

Note! No, the Kool-Aid will NOT stain your skin or tub, as it will be in fairly small concentrations, but, your white towels are another matter! Careful!

Epsom salt bath recipe

Ingredients

2 tablespoons of Epsom salt
1 tablespoon od Sea salt
8 drops of essential oils of your choice
3 tablespoons of baking soda
A 4 oz jar.

Preparation

Combine all the ingredients in a jar. Shake gently so the mass combines.

Use the mix generously in a tub and enjoy :)

It is my personal preference to combine lavender and vanilla essential oils, but with these easy recipes, combinations are truly endless. You could go with orange and lemon essential oils if you need an energy boost, lavender to calm you down etc.

To get an idea what different oils do check out a list of most commonly used essential oils.

If you are more into plain bath with ingredients such as herbs etc. added, then check out bath ingredients - detoxifiers, moisturizers and skin soothers.
