Hi,
A friend of mine swears that rinsing her hair with green tea has reduced her hair loss. Does green tea help hair loss? I want to try it but I don't want to waste time on something that doesn't work. Thanks!
Angela
Hi Angela,
The article here on the site, health benefits of green tea details the many benefits of green tea. The most emphasized ingredients in green tea are antioxidants that fight free radicals. Free radicals damage the cells promoting their aging. Green tea is said to aid in distribution of antioxidants around the hair follicle. A lot of the times, there is some kind of inflammation around or in the hair follicle that weakens that hair strand and makes it fall out which can lead to increased hair loss.
By reducing or removing the negative impact of free radicals on hair follicle, nutrients are delivered to the hair to help its growth and fullness. Green tea will also nourish the scalp preventing dryness, irritation and dandruff (see green tea skin benefits and green tea body scrub).
Hope this helps,
