Our readers' tips - Dry hair recipes

Here are a few recipes sent to us by our readers that can be of enormous help.

They are simple to make, all of them consisting of ingredients that replenish hair.

From Val:

Heat olive oil in microwave or stove top.
Massage olive oil into scalp.
Cover head with a plastic bag for 20-30 minutes.
Rinse, dry and style hair as usual.

From Alaa:

Honey and yogurt mask for dry hair

Ingredients:

2 cups of yogurt
4 tablespoons of honey

Preparation

Blend the ingredients and apply them on wet hair.
Leave on for 30 min and then shampoo the hair.

This mask smooths the hair.

From Briohny:

For dry hair conditioning

Mix a quality conditioner with half the juice of a fresh lemon and leave in for 15-20 mins then rinse.
It leaves the hair awesomely shiny.

From Sara

Start oiling your thin and dry hair with almond oil mixed with coconut oil at least twice a week.
After massaging it into your scalp and hair, apply juice of two lemons and steam your hair for about seven-eight minutes.

I had to do some research on "hair steaming" and aside from professional apparatus used in hair salons, at home this means wrapping your hair with a warm, damp towel, a towel which you have soaked in hot water or simply putting on a shower cap after you have applied any of the dry hair recipes.

What hair steaming does is that it opens up the pores and allows the scalp to absorb all the good nutrients.
