Here is a recipe that is great for dry skin as a facial mask or as an excellent exfoliating scrub.
In a food processor combine 2 tablespoons of instant unflavored oatmeal, 2 tablespoons course natural sugar, 2 teaspoons honey, 2 teaspoons lemon juice and 1/2 apple chopped (skin and all) pulse until smooth.
You can add up to 1 tablespoon of milk to make it spread easily if you want. Too much milk and it won't work very well, it will be to soupy. (Tastes pretty good too.)
Apply to face and body with fingers in a circular motion and rinse with cool water.
Keep leftovers in fridge, they will last about 3 days.
Crush almonds and rose petals together and add milk in this mixture. Refrigerate it. Take a small portion out of this mixture and mix as much milk as you like apply on face.
The shelf life of this cream is a week or 15 days. You will notice fresh and soft skin. But for the great change you will have to wait a month or so. Apply it like a normal cream But don't forget to wash and then dry fresh rose petals before crushing it.
Apply to skin morning and night after cleaning the face.
Hi Carmen and thanks for the recipe!
All of the ingredients mentioned in this mask are superb when it comes to treating dry skin.
Aloe vera is soothing as well as moisturizing. It is particularly useful if the skin is dry but irritated or has some redness. Aloe vera will kick in and heal the inflammation. You can buy it at stores or you can buy aloe vera leaves, cut them up and use the juice.
Shea butter is an excellent emollient, or skin softener and so is olive oil. Olive oil in addition does not leave a greasy residue so it is suitable to oily skin types also.
For Dry Skin
1 Persimmon (ripe)
1 Teaspoon of Olive Oil
Mix the middle part of the ripe persimmon with the olive oil and then apply the mixture to your skin , let it rest for 20 minutes and wash with cold water.
For Oily Skin
Pumpkin 1-2 Slices
Fresh Yogurt 2 Tablespoons
Grate the pumpkin slices very fine, then mix it well with yogurt , apply the mixture to your face, let it rest for 25 minutes and wash with lukewarm water.
Squeeze the juice from half a lime into approx. 1/3rd cup of boiled milk.
Using a cotton pad apply the mix gently over face . Leave approx 15 mins . Rinse well with cool water. Gently pat dry .
I FIND THIS WORKS WONDERS, and my skin looks and feels SO much better. Hope you like it too.
