Herbal body wrap - seaweed wrap that detoxifies your skin, firms it up, and restores the natural glow
Since it was first introduced in the 1960’s, herbal body wrap craze continues to grow. It first started as a fat reducing method and cellulite eliminator. Nowadays, as the holistic approach reaches its momentum, herbal body wraps are mostly used in order to remove the toxins from the body and help the skin revitalize and regain a healthy glow. The most popular body wrap recipe around is Seaweed body wrap. Seaweed is filled with minerals and trace elements that nourish and cleanse the skin thoroughly. Seaweed is known to moisturize and firm the skin.
Like with any herbal body wrap, the primary function is to break down the fat cells and then release the fat into the lymphatic system. This way, it is naturally excreted. Fat cells are filled with toxins, so the herbal body wrap can be considered a type of detox therapy. When the fat cells break down, all the toxins accumulated in them are released and excreted from the body as well. In order to prepare the Herbal (Seaweed) Body Wrap, you will need to enlist a friend/partner to help you. This is what you will need: Ingredients - 2 cups of fresh seaweed (or 1 cup of dried seaweed or powdered kelp)
- 3 gallons of distilled water
- 1 large beach towel
- 1 large plastic garbage bag (you will need to cut it open into a big rectangle)
- a large plastic bowl, or clean bathroom sink or tub
Directions - Boil water in a large pot/kettle
- Steep seaweed (or kelp) for about 5 minutes
- Pour the liquid into a large bowl, or bathroom sink or tub (drain closed)
- Drop in the towel and let it absorb the mixture thoroughly
- Wring out towel and wrap it around your body
- Make sure you enclose as much seaweed as possible
- Wrap the plastic bag around the body and around the towel
- Lie down and relax for 15 minutes
- Back to the bathtub where you will unwrap and rinse off
After this bath, you can use one of the bubble bath recipes in order to remove the seaweed scent left on the body. Seaweed does not smell particularly good, so go ahead and use the one of the fragrances. Usually, the citrus based ones are the best. A body wrap can be a great part of the home spa party. It is easy to prepare, but above all, it is beneficial to your skin and your overall wellness. RELATED PAGES Body care tips and tricks Bubble bath recipes Home spa recipes
