When I started getting pimples, my mom would mix a little honey and cinnamon together and put it on the pimples. It worked because the next day you could notice it was getting smaller and less noticeable.
Hi Donelda,
I am not surprised you've had success with this mix of ingredients; both honey and cinnamon are wonderful antiseptics. Cinnamon is used for preparation of problem skin type facial mask and honey is not only an antiseptic but also a great anti-inflammatory agent that prevents and heals the infections. It is often used as main ingredient in masks that focus on sensitive, redness and acne prone skin.
A few tips that came out of the questions in the comments:
- Do not leave it on overnight. Apply it, leave it on 10, 15 or 20 minutes and then rinse if off with lukewarm water.
- Don't use syrup instead of honey. Use regular (organic is even better) honey.
- Use regular cinnamon powder.
- Be cautious if you have sensitive skin. Apply it on one spot and see the skin's reaction. If there is no irritation, proceed.
- You can make a larger batch and keep it in a tight lid container. Store it in the refrigerator but not longer than a couple of weeks.
- There are no specific amounts for this recipe, at least Donelda didn't leave any. Add cinnamon to honey gradually until the mix is a consistency of a paste and you can easily apply it on the skin.
Thanks for the recipe,
Biljana, admin.

You said to leave it on for about 15-20 minutes rather than leaving it on for the entire night, why? I thought that it was more effective if it was left on during the night.
Hi, Keep in mind that this is not a mask that has a thick consistency so it is likely it will drip and mess up your sheets overnight :) Leaving it on for 20 minutes is enough for it to do what it needs to do. There is no "must" here, I suppose; you can apply it however you wish and as long as you wish.

itchy by: Anonymous
Hi, I'm wondering what happens if my face gets itchy only the first day.
Remove the mask and wash the face with lukewarm water. Give your face some rest, don't use the mask for a few days and then try it again. However, before applying the mask again, test it by applying some on your inner arm and see if you have any irritation. If irritation/itchiness occur, I would recommend you don't use the mask. If there is no reaction, try the mask again.

This is best!! by: ShinningStar
I use this recipe for getting rid of the cough for me and my family. 1 tea spoon cinnamon powder and 2 teaspoons of honey. First I warm the honey in a glass bowl for 15 sec and then add cinnamon powder and eat it. Helps subside cough in 3 days. I use 2 to 3 times per day until cough is gone. Use your own judgment and try it out.
Now i am trying the same composition on my face to see if it helps the scars and pimple spots.

Powdered Cinnamon ? by: Anonymous
I couldn't find cinnamon powder so I got fresh cinnamon sticks and heated them a bit and made it powder. I saw this method in a website on how to make cinnamon powder .
I just want to know if I am doing the right thing in heating it a bit in a pan ? Would this destroy any healing properties in cinnamon ?
If not heating, how should I powder it at home ?

I used this ! by: Anonymous
I started using this remedy 3 days ago. First time when I used it, it itched a lot. But I don't feel anything like that now. I know its only been 3 days, but after the first application, my skin got very soft ( which is sooo great ). And my pimples dried out. Like.. there became more sharp like something inside was bought upon the surface.. you know.. When I dry out my face with the towel, they become like I have picked them up. So I am so scared that these are going to leave scars !!! That's the only bad thing I experienced for now.
Please tell me , does this mixture also help to get rid of scars as well ? Or should I use something else for these ?
Thanks

All around. by: Annmarie.
I do not have LARGE acne all over my face, however I do have scattered acne and scars all over my face that vary in size. If I apply this mixture all over my face, would that be okay?
Hi Annmarie,
Yes, that should be fine.

Three tablespoons of honey and one teaspoon of cinnamon powder paste. Apply this paste on the pimples before sleeping and wash it next morning with warm water. If done daily for two weeks, it removes pimples completely.

Middle of the day cleaning by: Anonymous
I will have to try that. I have very oily skin and with 2 kids, I have hardly any time to take care of my skin. My skin breaks out when it's too oily, too dry, and when I get stressed. Needless to say, my skin breaks out a lot. What I do to clean my face in the middle of the day when I have no time is I use baby wipes. It is fresh, kills germs, and if you get the non-alcohol kid it leaves your skin soft and doesn't dry it out. It also helps when you have sensitive skin because it isn't over powering if you get the non-scented.

cinnamon powder by: khush
can i just crush cinnamon sticks to make the powder? or ready made powder is more effective?
If you want to, grinding cinnamon sticks will add freshness to it but you don't have to, ready made is good too.
Toothpaste works as well if u put ice does that work or does the honey and cinnamon work better?

You are not supposed to leave it overnight. Apply it, keep it on for 10-15min and wash it off.

Wow, I discovered this site with my best friend cause we wanted to do our own spa and were surfing the net for good recipes that dont require a lot of weird ingredients. It was so fun!!!!! We made a homemade foaming vanilla bubble bath, left mayonaise in our hair for an hour (deep conditioning, and softens), did an egg white mask for acne and then a honey banana mask to brighten our skin, and we did a sugar and olive oil scrub. we did it more for fun but EVERYTHING ACTUALLY WORKED... our hair and skin were soft, clear, and glowy! NOw im so addicted to this site, theres like a gazillion recipes! me and my sister did this one last night its great!

shelf life by: trixiegirl
if this recipe is kept in an air tight container do you know how long it is good for? i would like to try it but i am one of the lucky ones that have not had as many as i have gotten older. but when i do get them they are big. just wanted to check to see the shelf life on this. thanks sooo much :)
Hi trixiegirl,
No need to make a large batch. Just mix up some honey and cinnamon, enough for one application. It is probably more beneficial if used fresh then stored.

Hello, this looks like something that will work for me, but i use foundation mostly everyday to cover-up blemishes. Would this still work if i apply it and then put on make-up?
Apply it, rinse it off and then apply foundation. Don't leave it on the whole day.

Can I store the mixture? by: Ishani
Can I make it in large amounts and store it in a air tight container? Will there be an expiry date for this mixture?
I don't see why not. Just store it in the refrigerator. Don't use it after a couple of weeks, just to be sure it is fresh when applied.

I would gradually add cinnamon to honey so it thickens it up a bit but it is still of a paste-like consistency.

how many times a week should we use this? i did it last night and my skin feels nice.
thank you
Use it 3-4 times a week. There is no need to apply it every night; by leaving some time in between application, the skin will "rest" and do some of the healing by itself.

Should I use liquid honey or regular honey?
Hi,
Try buying organic honey that comes in jar or even regular honey. Liquid ones might not hold the consistency of the recipe as well as the ones in jars, they seem a bit thicker.

Different remedies work on different skin types. I tried this tip on my pimple and the next day it grew bigger and pus on the top.
STOP wasting money on store bought skin products. Make your own skin care recipes and pamper yourself, give it to someone you love or sell it to make a profit.
