Honey and lime juice in hair care recipes - do they change the hair color?

Hi,
In many hair care recipes they ask us to use honey or lime juice to the hair. Is that not harmful to hair because I have heard that honey changes the colour of black or brown hair to white hair. Same for lime juice.

Hi Mynthily,

Honey is used in hair recipes as an ingredient that adds moisture to the hair but is also used as a cleanser. It adds volume to the hair and it is not damaging in any way.

Lime juice is recommended for oily/greasy hair because the acids strip away the excess oils. When used on light color hair, it helps lighten the hair. I can see how it would strip away some of the color dye but I imagine you would need large volumes of lime juice for this, used very, very often to get an effect that you are describing. To be sure, ask your hair stylist and see what they say.
