Our readers' tips - Oily skin facial scrub

Our reader Xiomara sent us a great oily skin scrub recipe. She says it is her personal recipe and it does seem to me that it contains some mighty ingredients.

Oily skin facial scrub

  • 3 tablespoons of Aloe vera gel
  • 1 tablespoon of lime juice
  • 2 tablespoons of brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon of honey
  • Preparation

Mix Aloe and honey until completely and smoothly mixed.
Add lime juice and brown sugar step.
Stir mixture until completely blended, sugar should remain undesolved.

How to apply: With your finger apply mask over entire facial area. Leave on for 15 minutes, then wash off with warm water.
Gently massage face in circular motion as you wash mask off.

This treatment must not be done more than three times a week, for skin may get too dry.

Benefits: the lime juice cuts and removes grease from your face. The sugar scrubs dead cells from surface, the Aloe soothes and moisturizes, and the honey gives skin a vibrant look.

    Thanks Xiomara!

Here's another great oily skin recipe - Oily skin peel:

This recipe is excellent for oily skin. For summers, it is a good way of rejuvenating your face and eliminating excess oil which leads to eruptions like acne, boils and blemishes on your face. Take two or three juicy oranges. Carefully remove the peel. After doing that, put all those peels for drying in the sun. Leave them for a day or two.

When you find that the orange peel have dried properly, wash them in lukewarm water. The put those peel in a mixer or blender and blend them until you get a powdery substance out of them. Take the peel powder. The powder should not have any coarse material inside them as this would prevent better absorption. Keep the powder under refrigeration for 2-3 hours.

Next, take a ripe lemon. Put it into a cup of lukewarm water and let it soak for 5-10 minutes. Cut the lemon into two halves and take the juice out of them. Out 5-6 drops of lemon juice into the orange peel powder and mix well. Then add a few drops of rosewater (even crushed rose petals will serve the same purpose) into the mixture and then mix properly. Your face mask is ready.

Apply it after washing your face with cold water an let it dry on its own for a maximum of 15 minutes. Wash it off after drying.
