Ringworm

by Nikita
(Dhaka)

Dear ma'm,
I had ringworms on my hands about 3yrs back. As far I can recall they were really itchy. I went to the doctor but it was too late. The ringworms disappeared leaving dark spots all over my hands. My complexion is fair and I feel very upset when I look at my hands. Can you suggest me some home remedy through which I can remove those spots? Please help...

Dear Nikita,

Ringworm is a very common infection. Since it is recurring, it is very likely it will show up again. What I would recommend is trying to prevent it from spreading when you see the first signs of the infection. Dabbing a bit of tea tree essential oil is an excellent ingredient to use to stop the infection. Tea tree oil is a very strong antiseptic, it kills the fungus.

There is not much that can help you completely eliminate the discoloration but using lemon juice is effective in reducing it a bit. Use a cotton ball, dip it in fresh lemon juice and dab the spot a few times a day. A difference should be visible in a few weeks.
