Swollen face after bad sunburn

Hello!

Despite makeup and sunscreen, I received a pretty nasty sunburn this past weekend. The results has been a very swollen forehead and eyes. I have tried cucumbers, tea bags, cold compresses, aloe and about anything else I could get my hands on...to no avail. Do you have any "quick fixes" to get the swelling to go down? I don't' even want to go out of the house looking like this! Thanks!

I had the same experience when I went to Hawaii for the first time. I burnt my scalp, and woke up the next morning with a huge swollen forehead, eyes, cheeks and lips. I went into urgent care, and they gave me a prescription for Prednisone. The Doctor said it was a second degree burn and that it is quite common, especially for people who have never been to the tropics before. I had to stay out of the sun and indoors for three days. I was told to not even shower, as my scalp was burnt and the hot water would cause more swelling. I also had to ice my head with cold compresses... it was awful to be a prisoner indoors in beautiful Hawaii!!! Anyway, the swelling went down significantly within the first 24 hours and by the third day it was almost gone. Then when the swelling was completely gone, I was told to wear a hat at all times when being in the sun. My scalp blistered and the skin came off... so I wanted to wear a hat anyway. I now wear a hat whenever I am on the beach, as I never want to experience this again!!
