The beauty of homemade hair moisturizer is that it is a quick way to give your otherwise dry or frizzy hair a boost and add needed moisture and nourishment.
Natural hair care homemade recipes that moisturize the hair give best results when used regularly in addition to other hair care recipes.
There are many variations of the homemade hair moisturizer recipes, but let's keep it simple here, OK? There is no need to add obscure or hard to find ingredients when these recipes can be made with basic stuff.
Avocado homemade hair moisturizer
1/2 of peeled and mashed avocado
1/2 cup of mayonnaise.
This sounds similar to this hair conditioner recipe, doesn't it?
It does but there is an extra ingredient to this recipe: Vitamin E oil. Vitamin E nourishes and restores the skin, and in this recipe, it will do the same for the moisture deprived scalp. Add 3-4 drops of Vitamin E to avocado and mayonnaise and either use a blander to combine or mash with a fork. Apply on hair and put a shower cap on. Keep on for 20 or so minutes and wash the hair as you usually would.
If you want to treat frizzy, damaged ends only, apply this paste on ends. For a deep conditioning effect, wrap the hair with warm towel instead of shower cap.
You can always simply apply mayonnaise on hair only and leave it on a while and then wash. I find mayonnaise only to be very greasy on my hair but my hair is naturally greasier; I am sure it would work great on dry hair.
Honey-egg hair pack
There are no real measurements to this recipe. I use it once or twice a month and always approximate the quantities.
Combine one egg yolk with honey, 3-4 drops of Vitamin E oil, and a bit of olive oil. Scramble the ingredients and apply on hair following the same direction as for the avocado conditioner.
If your hair is lighter, you can always add a teaspoon or two of chamomile tea or a few drops of lemon juice.
Honey oil homemade hair moisturizer
Combine 1 tablespoon of olive oil with 3 tablespoons of honey (add Vitamin E if you want). Mix the ingredients and apply on freshly washed hair. Leave on for 15 or so minutes. Rinse off.
Olive oil by itself is a great moisturizer. It doesn't leave greasy residue and it revives damaged hair. Check out rosemary hot oil treatment for dry hair to learn about olive oil and rosemary combination.
Homemade hair moisturizer should be used when freshly made. If there is a bit left after the application, refrigerate it and use it as soon as possible. Avoid second application with recipes that contain eggs in them.
